How to Look Good in Your 50s

Once upon a time there was a woman who was the center of attention. Wherever she went everyone would stop what they were doing, unable to process any other thought in their mind because of the beauty they saw passing them. With toned muscles and soft skin, she was the envy every other woman who happened to even make a passing glance at her. Those days were years ago though, and now that beauty has faded. But does it have to? The fountain of youth was a myth, but there has to be some way to stay looking young, doesn't there?

The inevitable fact of life is that, no matter what we do, we age. There's no way to stop it, and it's something that we all need to accept on some level. However that doesn't mean that we have to accept looking our age. There are plenty of ways that we can still help keep ourselves looking young. Being old is really nothing but a state of mind.

Diet is an important aspect of not only overall health, but being able to stay looking young. Certain foods that are high in sugar and fatty foods can have a negative effect on our skin. It's important to make sure to keep a healthy diet with plenty of vegetables, that is also low in fat. You may want to get fast food, but that's an impulse you are going to have to ignore.

Exercise also plays an important with overall health as well. Staying active is important to overall health. It's important to remember that exercising all muscle groups helps keep the body toned and in shape. A common mistake is to only focus on one area, for example cardiovascular exercise. This only helps one area, making weight loss less substantial, as well as not evenly distributing throughout the body the benefits of exercise.

While these two factors are very important to keep looking overall more youthful, sometimes this may not be enough. That's where collagen creams come in. Collagen creams and stem cells are not only all the rage, but are effective in helping aging women reclaim the looks the may have lost with the passage of time.

The following are short explanations of what collagen and stem cells are, and how they can help you looking younger.

Collagen is a protein that occurs naturally in the body, specifically in the bones, muscles, tendons and skin. Although naturally produced, there are various factors that can damage collagen, such as high sugar diets, smoking, air pollution as well as excessive sun exposure. Our collagen levels also start to decrease as we age. Collagen creams help replenish collagen levels, while at the same time providing extra protection against the toxins we face off against everyday.

Stem cells are another ingredient that can help people look like their younger selves again. Stem cells are cells that have not yet become any particular kind of cell yet, say a white blood cell or a cell that helps with the digestive process. These cells can be found not only in humans, but in just about anything else as well, including animals, fruits and plants. In cosmetics, stem cells usually come from fruits and plants. When applied in skin creams, these stem cells can become new skin cells, which help reduce the effects of aging.

Stem cells may also help with the production of more collagen. So if you get a skin cream with both collagen and stem cells, that's means that your skin will indeed be very healthy. This is more important as we age, as the collagen we naturally produce decreases over time. While diet and exercise may help, sometimes what's needed the most is extra help from other sources.

Age is something that we all have to inevitably accept. However there is no reason that we have to look as old as we really are. That woman who was the center of attention when she was younger, she can still be that in older age, especially with the aid of collagen creams and stem cells. 50 can be the new 20, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
